The Bass Lake Education Foundation (BLEF) is an independent non-profit 503(c) public charity. BLEF was founded in 2009 after state-wide school budget cuts further reduced programs for our kids in Madera County. By offering free clubs, low-cost workshops, and sponsoring field trips, BLEF hopes to promote a love of learning, nature, and the sciences through a greater understanding of the living world around us. The organization is run by a small group of parent volunteers. We do not take a salary and have almost no overhead costs. All proceeds go directly back into the programs for children.
We are based in Oakhurst, California, just 16 miles outside Yosemite National Park. Children from Oakhurst, Ahwahnee, Coarsegold, and North Fork have participated in our programs representing a half- dozen schools.
